UX Designer - Website Specialist at Referment

Webflow Designer
Freelance/Contract
England

About the job

Referment is partnering with a leading global financial services organisation to support the hire of a Senior UX Designer on an initial 3-month contract, supporting the team with a new website buildout. This role is specifically focused on the design and delivery of large-scale, public-facing websites.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a full end-to-end website transformation project. You’ll work closely with UI Design, Product Owners, and Engineering to define and shape the user experience from discovery through to development handoff.

‍

The Role

‍You’ll take ownership of the UX stream, leading research, defining information architecture, mapping user journeys, and producing high-quality UX deliverables that guide both design and build.

‍

Key Responsibilities

  • Discovery & Research
  • Lead user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing, heuristic reviews)
  • Analyse website performance, user behaviours, analytics, and pain points
  • Translate insights into clear, actionable UX recommendations
  • Information Architecture & Experience Design
  • Define IA, site maps, taxonomy, and navigation structures
  • Develop end-to-end user journeys and flows
  • Facilitate workshops (journey mapping, requirements gathering, prioritisation)
  • Align closely with product and content teams
  • Wireframing & Delivery
  • Produce low–mid fidelity wireframes and prototypes using standard industry tools (e.g., Figma)
  • Collaborate closely with UI designers and engineers
  • Present work to stakeholders and drive alignment

‍

Experience Required

  • A strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in designing large-scale, public-facing websites from concept to completion. Your experience must be clearly focused on web design, rather than mobile applications or internal software products.
  • Proven experience working within financial services or a similarly regulated industry is essential for this role.
  • A minimum of 3 years of UX experience, focused on delivering end-to-end website UX projects.
  • Confident running research and usability testing independently.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and accessibility (WCAG 2.1+).
  • Comfortable working autonomously in fast-paced environments.

‍

Nice to Have

  • Experience with content-heavy websites
  • CMS-driven environments
  • GA4, Hotjar or similar analytics tools
  • Workshop facilitation experience

We’re looking for someone self-directed, collaborative, and confident managing stakeholders, someone who can bring structure to ambiguity and quickly embed into a high-performing team.#Referment
